Introducing AIDN – The Australian Industry & Defence Network

Founded in 1995, AIDN has grown into the peak national industry association representing small to medium enterprises (SMEs) in the defence sector across Australia. It was formed through a series of incorporated associations that came together to strengthen national representation for defence-related businesses.

The Australian defence industry plays a critical role in the national economy, employing more than 61,000 people and contributing over $10.6 billion in the 2021–22 financial year (ABS, December 2022). With current global dynamics, the sector is poised for ongoing growth and continues to play a key role in supporting Australia’s defence capability.

AIDN prioritises connection and collaboration, fostering a strong network of members who work together to deliver value across the defence supply chain. The organisation actively encourages engagement between members, helping businesses find shared opportunities and contribute to a stronger, more capable Defence Force.

Advocating for Australia’s Defence SMEs

AIDN strengthens the collective voice of small to medium enterprises in the defence sector. They ensure that the perspectives and interests of their members are represented clearly and independently to Federal and State/Territory Governments, as well as Defence Prime Contractors—free from external influence or agenda.
