As the agency responsible for delivering the State Government’s Defence and Defence Industry Strategy, Defence West champions WA’s strengths and capabilities across defence sectors.

With a focus on readiness for AUKUS nuclear-powered submarines, continuous naval shipbuilding, innovation, and veteran engagement, the team is committed to strengthening the State’s defence ecosystem. Through national and international collaboration, the Industry Development team creates partnership opportunities that help WA businesses grow and compete in global defence markets.

Defence West supports local businesses through targeted initiatives aimed at building capacity and increasing competitiveness in Defence supply chains. The team also coordinates and hosts inbound and outbound trade missions, ensuring WA maintains a strong presence at major defence exhibitions including Avalon, Indo-Pacific, and Land Forces.
